Course Description

This course seeks to provide you with a general introduction to literature. We will investigate what is and what isn't literature. We will discuss and familiarize ourselves with basic literary terms and genres, including short stories, poems, and dramas. The main text for the fall term is Perrine's Story and Structure, edited by Thomas Arp and Greg Johnson. The main text for the winter term is 12 Plays by Janet Gardner.
